Around The Homestead

Why does it always seem that the month of May just goes by way too fast? Between Mother’s Day, our anniversary and my birthday there is always something to do. Add the graduation this year and there is the usual outdoor chores that are needing tended to, the month is gone in a blink of an eye. We finally got the garden planted! A little late, but it is in.

Our rototiller broke so we borrowed one from a family member. A little small, but it got the job done.

We started planting it after dinner and it was getting dark when I took this picture. Above are some of the planters of grape and cherry tomatoes. If you look to the right of the picture you will see our kitty in the garden. I think that she was supervising us πŸ™‚

This is one of the planters for the cherry tomatoes.

We put our tomato plants in planters this year. We haven’t been having any luck with the tomatoes in our garden in the last few years, so we decided to keep them separate and on the other side of the house. I am hoping that this does the trick because I really miss canning different tomato products. Home canned relish, salsa, and whole tomatoes beat the store bought any day.

The daffodils have been replaced with iris blooming in the flower gardens.

And many little planters and barrels are planted with annuals. The little things in life make me happy πŸ™‚

As my daughter put it, “It makes our home cozy outside Momma.”.
