It has been really busy around here, between working and then my son decided to come home from college this weekend. Surprise! This was one of those out of the blue trips that he springs on us once in awhile. I decided to pamper him with a homecooked meal of spaghetti and meatballs, salad and garlic bread. It is funny how when a child is little and you told them that they were having spaghetti and meatballs they would scrunch their nose up to you. Now when that same child comes home from college and realizes that we are having spaghetti, he appreciates that home cooked meal. I always make my meatballs from scratch and the same with the sauce.
When your child moves out, or in our case, is in college away from home, they really appreciate what meals mom makes for them. They didn’t realize how good they had it until they move out and have to cook for themselves. That is too much darn work having to cook and then there are the dishes! I do have to say here that my son has surprised me with his cooking abilities. He has confessed that he has made himself several meals in his apartment instead going to the dining hall. This meal will not taste like anything that comes out of that dining hall. It is made with moms loving hands and will be enjoyed by everyone sitting around the kitchen table and talking about what is going on in our lives now, and maybe some childhood memories as well.
