As I have been getting ready for Christmas, I have been reflecting on some of the people in my life. I remember reading one time on Facebook how one of my friends had a problem with a person. Someone posted that they shouldn’t worry because people come and go in our lives all of the time. I thought about that for awhile and realized that the poster was right.
It starts when we are young and go to school. Think about all of the children that you would start school with. Sometimes someone would move away and we would never see them again. We might go to school one day and there might be a new person sitting in our class. We make friends with these children and they will always stay in our minds. Some of them we grow up with. Some we don’t. The ones that we do we just might be friends with them as adults.
With social media in our society now, it is much easier to keep in touch with people. I have a dear friend that I have corresponded with for the last 35 years. She moved away at the end of our second grade together. We would write letters to each other often and actually send them in the mail. I always looked forward to hearing from her. She is still in my life today. We occasionally talk to each other on Facebook and we still send each other letters.
When we are adults we meet people in our work places. If we are lucky we will get along with them. If you are lucky to stay in one job, then you will grow closer to these people and make friends that will stay in your life. If you have changed jobs, you have had the fortune of having people coming and going from your life. Have any of them touched you in a way that you will never forget them? Will they be in your life for a long time to come?
Have you ever met a person in your life that has touched you in a way that you will never forget them? I mean they might have done something truly life changing for the better for you? Even if that person is not in your life anymore, you will always carry them in your heart. If the person is in your life, you always will cherish them!
Think about all of the people in your life. Are they just friends? Good friends? Family? Co-workers? We have, if we are lucky enough, to have at least one good friend that we can turn to and will always be there for us. That one person will be in our life.
Take time to be thankful for the people in your life. Enjoy their company during this holiday season and if possible during the whole year to come.
